Panasonic Website Redesign

Panasonic Website Redesign

Panasonic Energy Corporation of America, headquartered in Columbus, Georgia, is the largest manufacturer of primary cylindrical lithium cells in North America.

Panasonic enlisted me to transform their previously static website into a responsive, dynamic platform optimized for comprehensive analytics. In addition to this functionality, they sought the flexibility to make real-time updates through a Content Management System (CMS), empowering their team to manage and adjust content as needed. This redesigned site would serve as the flagship model for all future Panasonic web developments.

With a substantial portion of Panasonic’s customers accessing the site from mobile devices, a key goal was to ensure seamless responsiveness across all screen sizes for an optimized user experience.

SCOPE OF WORK

Visual Design and Branding Integration

CHALLENGE

Define clear brand positioning while building a site equipped with backend technology to leverage analytics and enable real-time CMS updates. Balance business objectives and user needs within the constraints of a strict corporate style guide.

OUTCOME

We achieved a balance between guiding users to find and purchase products, boosting sales, and reducing bounce rates. Overall, page views rose significantly, as confirmed by analytics data.

Gather Relevant Information to Accurately Develop a Site Map

Brainstorming

The process begins with a burst of organized chaos, where every idea, no matter how bold, goes up on “The Board of 1000 Ideas.” This approach fosters a deep understanding of the client’s vision and allows for unrestricted, boundary-free thinking. It encourages a natural, dynamic exchange of ideas that energizes and ignites the creative process.

Discovery Session

The discovery session is all about deeply understanding the client—their goals, challenges, and audience. This process shapes the site’s structure, providing clarity and direction. Panasonics Senior Executives offered key insights during this phase, essential for creating an accurate and effective site map.

Architect the Site

An in-depth discovery session laid the groundwork for a comprehensive site map. Next came defining the Look & Feel—capturing what inspires the client, their preferences, and the type of sites that resonate with them. While Panasonic’s style guide is extensive, we found ways to introduce creative flexibility throughout the development process.
